Fernando
de Vilallonga

This website has been created as a reminder and tribute to the figure of the Catalan businessman Fernando de Vilallonga, a versatile man who contributed remarkably to the economic development of Costa Brava/Girona during from the 60s to the 90s of the last century.

This year, 2019, is the 25th anniversary of his death. A plain man, with an overwhelming friendliness and kindness, that carried out several extraordinary and fantastic urban and business projects, which made him a unique exceptional man for his vision and his ability to foresee the future.

Among the many projects Vilallonga endeavoured and carried out, Empúriabrava undoubtedly is the biggest and most important one.

“The man who has taken the risk of building Empúriabrava is a friend of ours. His name is Ferran Vilallonga. He has made of Empúriabrava the work of his life.”

Jaume Pol Girbal in his book Costa Brava

About his personal life, we must highlight his commitment with family values and his two biggest passions: hunting and aviation. In fact, it was his love for aviation what led him to locate the area for the airfield of Empúriabrava (Olympic venue for parachuting in Barcelona 92) and develop the whole residential area as we know it.

We know that the greatest passions of Fernando de Vilallonga were aeronautics, hunting and urban planning. Rank them in the order you prefer, add an exquisite sensibility for arts and culture, devotion for the family and Girona, and our portrait, or at least our comments about our "devil".
